Kogi State government: All schools to reopen September 14

 Days after Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu announced the resumption date for tertiary institutions in Lagos Stae, the Kogi State government has also announced the resumption date for schools, tertiary, secondary and primary schools inclusive. All levels were said to be resuming on 14th September 2020. 

The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Wemi Jones on Tuesday in Lokoja at a press briefing.

The decision was made after various assessments and interactions with relevant stakeholders of both private and public schools in the state to ascertain the level of preparedness and safety for reopening schools from COVID-19 break.

”Therefore, upon further review having had several meetings with relevant stakeholders, His Excellency has directed that all schools in Kogi State should fully reopen on September 14, 2020”, he said.

The decision to reopen schools was a result of no negative report since exit classes reopened and advised all heads of institutions to abide by all the COVID-19 protocols which had been clearly set out by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.

He assured the general public, parents, guardians, schools heads that the state is very particular about the health and safety of students in Kogi State and will ensure that students are kept in good condition as far as the COVID-19 pandemic and indeed other diseases or health issues are concerned.

”We encouraged everybody to play their roles be ensuing personal hygiene reiterating that personal hygiene remained the personal responsibility of everybody.
